Staff Accountant

Come join the Anchor Insurance team! We are looking for a Staff Accountant to complete statutory and GAAP accounting for a high energy, multi-state property and casualty insurance company with strong growth plans for the future.

Essential Responsiblities

  • Prepare monthly journal entries to general ledger
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations
  • Provide analysis of company financials, analysis of trends and explain fluctuations
  • Will be responsible for statutory company reporting and accuracy
  • Prepare quarterly and annual premium tax filings
  • Prepare quarterly and annual NAIC and state required filings as due
  • Assist with auditors on year-end audit and providing documentation as requested
  • Handle ad hoc reporting requests and special projects as requested

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting or related field will be considered
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferable
  • 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting
  • Previous experience within P&C insurance accounting is preferred
  • Previous STAT and GAAP financial reporting would be a plus
  • Strong Excel, Powerpoint and Access skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Ability to take direction and prioritize workload accordingly
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
